Print MakerWorld and Printables Models in Colour

Found a multicolour model on MakerWorld or Printables but do not have a multicolour printer? Download its 3MF file, upload it here, and we print it in colour for you, with up to 8 colours in one print. You do not need a printer, an AMS or any slicer settings.

Upload the 3MF for an instant price

The quote reads the colours the designer set up, matches each one to the nearest filament we stock, and shows the price straight away. Change any colour you like before you order. Prices include GST, and shipping is a flat $15 per order anywhere in Australia, free on orders of $80 or more.

How it works

  1. Download the 3MF. On the model’s page, download the 3MF file rather than the STL. The 3MF is the one that carries the colours. On MakerWorld, pick the print profile you want first; on Printables, look for a 3MF in the model’s files.
  2. Upload it to the quote. Multicolour is selected for you, with one colour picker for each colour in the design.
  3. Check the colours. Each colour starts on our closest filament. Swap any of them for another standard, matte or silk PLA, and see it on the 3D preview.
  4. Order. Add it to your cart and pay by card. We print it and ship it to you.

Files that work

  • 3MF files saved from Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer, which covers most multicolour models on MakerWorld and many on Printables.
  • 3MF files saved from PrusaSlicer, with parts assigned to extruders or painted with the multi-material tool.
  • Whole plates. If the designer laid out several figures or pieces on one plate, the quote prices everything on the plate, as laid out.

STL files carry no colour, so they are priced in a single colour. If a model comes as separate STLs, one per colour, you can combine them into one 3MF yourself; our guide to setting up a multicolour 3MF shows how. Or email us the files with the colour for each and we will quote it.

What sizes and colours

Multicolour prints can be up to 400 x 400 x 450 mm, printed at the size in the file. They are printed in PLA:

  • Standard PLA: black, white, grey, red, cherry red, green, dark blue, sky blue, purple, pink, yellow, orange, gold, brown and rainbow.
  • Matte PLA: black, white, red and green.
  • Silk PLA: white, black, silver, gold, brass, blue, purple, pink and yellow.

How the price is worked out

The price is the filament for each colour at its normal rate, including the filament purged each time the printer changes colour, plus $4 an hour of print time. Both come from slicing the actual file. That is why two models of the same size can cost quite differently: a design where the colour changes on every layer takes far longer than one where each colour is its own section.

A large plate with many colour changes can take a few minutes to price. The quote shows its progress, and once it is done, changing colours reprices instantly.

Check the licence

Designers share their models under licences, and many allow printing for personal use only. We print files for your own use: please make sure the model’s licence allows it, and do not order prints to sell unless the designer permits it.

Frequently asked questions

Can you print a MakerWorld model for me?

Yes. Download the model’s 3MF file and upload it to the instant quote. If the designer set up colours, you get a multicolour price straight away.

Do I need a multicolour printer or an AMS?

No. We print it for you, in up to 8 colours in one print, and ship it to you.

Can I change the colours from the original design?

Yes. The quote matches each colour to our nearest filament, and you can change any of them before you order.

What if the model is only available as STL files?

STL files have no colour, so they are priced in a single colour. Combine separate colour STLs into one 3MF, or email them to us with the colour for each.

Why does a multicolour print cost more than a single colour?

Each colour change adds print time and purged filament. A design with colours on many layers can need hundreds of changes.

Do you ship anywhere in Australia?

Yes. Shipping is a flat $15 per order anywhere in Australia, free on orders of $80 or more. We do not ship outside Australia.
